Leadership Team
William Brinker
Managing Director
Will often jokes that he was born on a landfill but those that know him would say that it isn’t far from the truth. Will’s father, the founder of the Landfill Group’s Enerdyne Power Systems, Bill Brinker, was a pioneer in the landfill gas to energy space, and Will started working side by side with him as early as 12 years old. Will officially started with the company in 1998 and since then, he has gone on to build a reputation within the industry as someone who cares about people, relationships, and continuous improvement.
Under Will’s guidance, a single company of four team members has grown to a family of companies employing over 60 people, Will guided the development of new companies under the Landfill Group umbrella, including Advanced One, Advanced Biogas Systems, and JADE Biogas Engineering. This has allowed Enerdyne to bring diverse skillsets in-house, resulting in a complete turnkey operation.
Landfill Group companies have become recognized 5 times by the EPA for their prestigious Project Of The Year Award as well as numerous North Carolina Division of Air Quality Clean Air Excellence Awards.
As managing director of Landfill Group, Will is responsible for the overall direction, governance, and culture of the entire family of Landfill Group companies. Will has implemented the Entrepreneur Operating System (EOS) across the entire organization to help ensure accountability, a sense of purpose, and a strong culture that is instilled in the entire team.
Having been recognized in Marquis Who’s Who and Waste 360’s 30 Under 30 as well as 40 Under 40, Will’s status in the landfill gas to energy space is second to none. His additional qualifications include being a licensed General Contractor in multiple states, a SWANA Accredited Landfill Gas Technician, a SWANA Association Member, a Chairman of the Development Leadership Advisory Board of the RNG Coalition, and a Board Member of the LS Power and Landfill Group partnership.
Despite the success and multitude of accolades, those that know Will recognize him as someone who just shows up to help get the job done. He is just as comfortable getting dirty on a landfill as he is in the boardroom. His hands-on experience has led to speaking engagements at multiple industry conferences and his participation on many panels to help guide the industry to become what it is today.
Will’s dedication to helping people extends beyond his work in the field of clean energy. He formed the Landfill Group Charity, which contributes funds to support charitable organizations across the nation. Additionally, Will is very involved in his local community, working as an active member of the Blowing Rock Chamber.
When Will does (seldomly) decide to relax, you will likely find him at home with his wife and 3 children. Coaching his kids’ sports teams and enjoying time outdoors – hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping.
